President-Elect’s Biography

Michel St-Germain

Michel St-Germain is the 2019–2020 President-Elect of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He will become CIA President in July 2020.

For over 40 years, he has been a pension consultant with Mercer, holding the position of Partner for the past 20 years.

Mr. St-Germain is a CIA gold award winner, in recognition of his extensive volunteer career with the Institute. His first assignment was in 1981 with the Program Committee. Since then he has held 29 other volunteer positions, including chairing the Member Services Council and the Pension Advisory Committee. He has served on the Practice Council, the Committee on Professional Conduct, and as a member of the CIA Board.

Mr. St-Germain holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Université Laval.
