Transition rules

Transition provisions were established by the CIA’s Education and Qualification Council in 2022 to help bridge changes to qualification requirements.

Most transition provisions for obtaining the ACIA and FCIA designations have now ended. As of January 1, 2026, applicants for CIA Associate or Fellow designation must meet the CIA’s education and qualification requirements, except where eligible credits were earned before the effective transition deadline.

Certain credits may still be recognized under the transition rules. Review the rules below and contact [email protected] with your questions to confirm whether they apply to you.
